IDC noted that after acquiring sizable output of the plant, the group, along with its existing LCD TV production lines, including ones in its affiliate Innolux Display Corp., has been able to rival the largest LCD TV maker, TPV Technology Ltd., in terms of output this year. In the next two to three years, the institute added, the group will very likely outpace TPV to lead the industry.
In fact, strong popularity of LCD TVs with consumers has propped up the emerging TV market. According to IDC's estimation, scale of the global market for the products will reach 123 million units this year and 146 million units next year.
With the market swelling, Taiwanese LCD TV makers, including Amtran Technology Co., Ltd., Compal Electronics and Wistron Corp., will also benefit with the enormous business opportunities in the future, in addition to Hon Hai Group, as they have been well recognized for their excellent production efficiency among global LCD TV brands, according to IDC.
For example, Sony, in light of Hon Hai Group's massive production capability and capacity, has recently reinforces cooperation with the group, vying to to return the No. 1 position globally for LCD TVs
